Merlot came to us in utero in his dam.  We purchased Missy, in foal with Merlot the winter of 2002.   Merlot was finally born on a chilly night in March 03.

Huge from the moment he was born, he has grown into a large but very well built mature horse.  We have taken our time with Merlot due to his massive size to slowly let him mature and grow into his body.

 He was lightly broke as a 3 yr old and now gets light and easy work as a 4 yr old a few times a week.  He is still growing into his huge body and we are not in a hurry with his special horse.

He comes from some very impressive bloodlines of Haarlem.  Haarlem, sired by the renown stallion and stallion of the century Voltaire.  Haarlem dam line comes from the BWP stallion Investment who was by Randal Z.  Randal Z comes from the great Ramiro line on the top and Alme and Gotthard on the bottom.  Merlot carries some of the great bloodlines in the sporthorse world.

Merlot dam is our broodmare, Missy Clever Leader. 

Missy is one of the nicest TB mares I have ever seen with big bone, large body type, correct shoulder and very active and powerful hind leg.  Missy is a super dressage broodmare.  Missy comes from the older TB blood of Clever Leader and Rinoso.  We wish we had two of her!
